Presentation of HyPerFerment

This presentation has been shown to the audience at the Research2Industry Days in São Paulo.

About the project

HyPerFerment's main goal is to produce H2 in addition to "conventional" biogas production. It is planned to upgrade already existing plants with HyPerFerment's innovative biotechnological process. Laboratory tests have already demonstrated H2 production without decreasing methane production. In addition, a 10 m³ pilot plant is currently being built in conjunction with an existing biogas plant as part of the HyPerFerment project, with commissioning scheduled for May 2022.

Thus, in addition to the substrates used in the existing biogas plants, new processes are to be developed that will make it possible to utilize previously unused organic waste streams. To this end, various wastewaters, e.g. from cheese and milk production, but also from sugar refineries, have already been successfully tested.
