Helmholtz Visiting Researcher Grant

In brief

The Helmholtz Visiting Researcher Grant offers doctoral students and postdocs with a strong link to (applied) data and information sciences a fully-funded short-term research stay at one of the 18 Helmholtz centers. The grant is offered by HIDA, the Helmholtz Information and Data Science Academy.

Who can apply

Researchers

  • from (inter-)national research organisations and from industry
  • with a master's degree with at least 3 years of research experience or a PhD/doctorate
  • with a project with a strong link to the (applied) data and information sciences

Type and extent of funding

Research grant for short-term research stays; depending on academic level, grant holders will receive approximately 2,800 euros per month to cover living costs. Additional allowances for travel, family etc. might apply.

Duration

1 to 3 months.

Application

Applicants must independently find a research group willing to host their stay and can then apply jointly with the corresponding Helmholtz center. There are two application deadlines each year: 15 March and 15 October.
