"Meet Your Future You" - Women in Science
As part of our new series, we aim to shed light on inspiring female scientists from around the world. On a regular basis, we will invite well-established international female researchers who have (partly) gained research experience in Germany. In each episode, different researchers will speak about the possibilities and challenges of conducting research as women in Germany, sharing their individual experiences and offering tips and tricks to aspiring researchers. The respected disciplines are the so-called STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

Episode 2: "Meet Your Future You" - Women in Science
Within the "Meet Your Future You" - series, we intend to also focus on women in science. This is why, in our second episode, we are introducing a format where the opportunities and challenges faced by female scientists will be discussed. Experienced researchers will share their insights on overcoming hurdles, securing PhD positions, obtaining Postdoc roles, and provide practical tips

- Dr. Claudia Seldin (10min presentation)
- Dr. Natacha Mahutin Aivodji (5min interview)
- Aylin del Moral Morales (5min interview)
- Q&A session (30min)
Dr. Claudia Seldin has a master's degree and a PhD in Urban Studies from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, pursued with research stays at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in 2007 and 2013. She is currently a researcher and lecturer at the Center for Metropolitan Studies of the Technische Universität Berlin, where she was a Humboldt/Capes postdoctoral fellow from 2020 to 2022.
In the past 20 years, she has held several fellowships from both German and Brazilian funding agencies, including the DAAD, the Leibniz Institute, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (in Germany), CNPq, CAPES, and FAPERJ (in Brazil). Her research and teaching interests include city marketing/branding, urban resistance movements, decolonial theory, and the impacts of digitalization on urban policy and real estate narratives.
Dr. Seldin has a strong passion for the dissemination of knowledge produced in South America. She is part of the managing and communication groups of Rede Apoena (Apoena Network) - the Network of Brazilian Scientists and Researchers in Germany, which is institutionally supported by the Brazilian Embassy in Berlin and the international offices of several universities throughout Germany.
AIVODJI Mahutin Natacha obtained her PhD in Cellular Physiology and Pharmacology in 2019 at the University of Abomey-Calavi (Benin). Since then, she is a postdoctoral fellow in the pharmacology and plant medicine research unit of the Pharmacology and Improved Traditional Medicines laboratory at the University of Abomey-Calavi. She has also carried out a postdoctoral mobility in the “Plant Proteomics and Functional Genomics” research group, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Soil Science and Agriculture, Faculty of Science, University of Alicante (Spain). After this experience, she came to Germany on a grant from the Twas-DFG Visit cooperation program for sub-Saharan researchers, to work at the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Jilius-Maximilians University (Würzburg).
As a fervent supporter of gender diversity in STEM and the promotion of female scientific leadership, she has been co-organizing the Global Women Breakfast Benin for several years. This is a global scientific event instituted by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), whose aim is to promote gender and disciplinary diversity in science.
Aylin del Moral Morales is a biochemist with extensive experience in cancer research, particularly in gene expression regulation and epigenetics. She holds a Master’s and is pursuing a PhD in Biochemical Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where her research focuses on transcriptional regulation, using computational tools to analyze complex datasets and predict genes involved in diseases such as cancer and tissue regeneration.
She has completed academic stays at institutions such as the Curie Institute in France and the University of Hamburg in Germany. Aylin has solid expertise in bioinformatics, particularly in RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis, which she applies to understand gene regulation in cancer and tissue regeneration. She is an associate professor at Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana - Unidad Cuajimalpa where she teaches molecular biology techniques and bioinformatics courses, focusing on data analysis and RNA-seq applications. Her work includes several peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals, and she has received numerous scholarships from CONACYT (Mexico) and the DAAD (Germany).
